International women’s Day is a day where the whole world celebrates the brilliant, strong women we have in our lives and celebrating those who made the world what it is today. However it’s also a day where we also look at the inequalities still present across the globe. The world Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report findings tell us that gender parity is still over 200 year away, this is so difficult to comprehend when we live in such a modern day society. But yes gender inequality is still happening. This is why today we need to take the time to celebrate women. To join the campaign to #pressforprogress. To make other’s aware, that yes this very much is a huge issue in society. But also a day to love yourself for the strong woman you are!
I have gone from living an incredibly sad life, brought about by insecurity from my wandering other, who made me feel like I was never good enough. To finally having self-confidence and belief that yes I am 100% good enough and I deserve the world. The past year I have worked on myself to be strong not only physically but mentally and emotionally too. Of course, we still all have those days. But I have learnt that nobody will ever let me feel that way again. That I am a strong woman deserving of respect, from both men and women. This is my message. That women should be pushing each other up, not pulling each other down. That men should 100% respect women, just like they would wish for their own child or mother. We, as women, are incredibly complex individuals deserving of anything we desire. If you have the strength inside you can achieve anything. So today, celebrate your own strength but also stand together with other woman to celebrate their strengths too.
